An Aria A Day #100 — Jessica O’Donoghue performs Chiara’s Scene
In this special performance to mark the 100th aria, former Opera Queensland Young Artist Jessica O’Donoghue shares Chiara’s scene from the opera ‘Biographica’ by Australian composer, Mary Finsterer.
Winner of the 2018 APRA|AMCOS Art Music Award for Vocal Work, ‘Biographica’ is an odyssey of maverick Renaissance genius Gerolamo Cardano, whose lust for gambling propelled him on to a precarious path between risk and calculated madness in a quest for fame, wealth and the ultimate prize — immortality.
Father so heated!
So hot within!
Shall I die? Shall I die?
You never cared! No love… for me.
You could not see I walked the streets.
You could not see me, or hear me!
Father, where are you?
A slow dance is mine.
In spheres of time.
Comets fly into eternal light.
Think you that, you shine more brightly than the stars.
You shine more brightly than the stars.
Your dusk is near.
